CHS Equestrian WAHSET

Cedarcrest High School offers an EQUESTRIAN TEAM which is a school-sanctioned club/activity that is governed by the Washington High School Equestrian Teams (WAHSET) and Cedarcrest ASB rules. As a member of the Cedarcrest High School Equestrian Team (CHSET), students may qualify for a school varsity letter while competing at the District and/or State levels. The Team offers opportunities in nearly every horse discipline for individual events such as Dressage, Saddle Seat Equitation, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunt Seat Over Fences, Stock Seat Equitation, Trail, Working Rancher, Driving, Showmanship, In-Hand Trail, In-Hand Obstacle Relay, Reining, Gaming (Barrels, Figure 8, Flags, Keyhole, Poles), and Cow Events (Breakaway Roping and Steer Daubing). Also available are team events such as Drill Team (Working Pairs, Working Fours, and 6+ Freestyle), Team Sorting, Team Canadian Flags, and Two-Man Birangle.

The 2016-2017 Cedarcrest Equestrian Team, in only its second year of existence and first year in the newly-formed District 7, qualified to send NINE people in SEVEN divisions to the state meet in Moses Lake WA May 12-14, 2017. With 20-30 or more competitors in every division, FOUR qualified to attend PNWIC (Pacific Northwest Invitational Championship) in Redmond OR June 2-4, 2017. ONE of the four WON her division there. This team has sent members to State EVERY year since its inception and has shown incredible growth in every event each year! Many have found it fun to try disciplines they didn’t know before – COME GIVE IT A TRY!
